Telum Media Features

Journalist lists: If you want to reach out to more than one journalist, or you are compiling a group nof journalists who write on a specific topic, you may want to add them to a list. You can create new lists or add journalists to existing lists created by you or your peers. Your list will then be found in the Lists tool on the platform. Your target journalists can be exported to a spreadsheet once you've created and saved the list.

List updates and advisor tool: With the updates and advisor tools available on the platform, you can keep track of journalist moves, sector changes, and more in the coming weeks and months.

Media Requests: You can find media requests in the Navbar. You can see which publications and journalists are requesting information, the deadlines, the information and who they would like to connect with. You can then reach out to the contact on the media request.

News: Telum have extensive resources in their News tab, from networking events to sharing PR tips, seeing Journalist moves, journalist interviews, and more. There is also a search functionality allowing you to search for the news you want.

Contacts: You can add any media contacts you have that are ot available in Telum by using the “contacts” tool so that you can include them in your lists.

Telum Media Alert: Telum send their users a media alert which includes highlights from their news tool which could be journalists moves, events and more.

What are the guidelines for use of this tool:

  • Blocklisting: If a journalist explicitly does not want to be contacted please blocklist that journalist in Telum. This will prevent any team member from accidentally reaching out to them. In addition, when blocklisting please ensure you leave a detailed note so that anyone on the team can understand why they have been blocklisted.
  • Updating Lists: Please make sure your lists are up to date when using Telum. To do this, open the list and check the updates column to see how many changes have occurred since you last updated it or created it. Check the journalists, and Advisor tool if it flags that the list has been updated.
  • Telum warning: Telum is updated manually and thus, it is important to check that your information is as up to date as possible.
  • Media Requests: Do not always rely on the media requests in Telum. Prior to reaching out to clients, please ensure that you reach out to the journalist first, do not disclose your client, and be careful how you pitch to the journalist as the media request may have been created by Telum and not the Journalist.
